About Me
Hi there!
My name is Julianna Mar and I am a recent graduate from Camosun College's Bachelor's of Business Administration in Marketing program.
Born in beautiful Victoria, BC, I attended high school at Lambrick Park Secondary. During high school, I was an active member of the track and field team. It may surprise you, but my main events were hammer throw and discus. As the track and field MVP, I believe this sport taught me how to show leadership and dedication in the activities I do. During my senior year, I trained diligently throughout the year which allowed me to place 1st on Vancouver Island and 5th in the province in hammer throw. I think this sport was what really enforced discipline and dedication into me as both a student and employee. This was one of the first times I really pushed myself to become the best version of myself possible and to strive for more. I also think getting involved with sports aided me in having more motivation and discipline as both a student and the young professional I am today.
I have lived here in Victoria my whole life and have had the opportunity to travel to several cities all over the world. From Alaska to California, I feel so fortunate to have experienced and travel these breath-taking cities. I hope that one day I’ll have the opportunity to visit even more cities across the world. One of my favourite hobbies consists of baking and cooking delicious meals. There's something relaxing about the process of cooking and combining flavours with your own hands. Cooking is also one of my favourite ways to wind down after a long, busy day.Â
Last summer, I was given the opportunity to work at the mHealth lab at the University of British Columba. Working with this group made me realize my passion for making a difference in the world and for working in the tech sector. This internship allowed me to apply my knowledge of marketing in an area that I was previously unfamiliar with. Slowly, but surely, I became more comfortable and confident with my work as a junior business strategist. I was given the responsibility of establishing the business ground-work for this project and effectively conducted extensive market research as well.Â
I believe there is so much more to marketing than society assumes. There are so many different perspectives and types of marketing that can easily be missed. With the knowledge I've learned at Camosun, I believe I have truly acquired new outlooks and experiences in this world of business and innovation. It's been an absolute pleasure attending Camosun the past couple years and creating connections with my fellow classmates. I hope I am able to combine my positive attitude and passion for marketing in an organization that strives to create meaningful connections with individuals.
